Hugh has spent over 30 years in the Courtroom. He has run thousands of trials, with thousands of positive outcomes. He has defended everything from parking tickets to multiple murders.
Driving or drugs, traffic tickets or trafficking cocaine. He has done it successfully before, and he can do it for you.
Hugh earned the Designation of Queen's Counsel in 1998. This prestigious honour was granted by the Lieutenant Governor on behalf of the Crown. He has also been elected four times by the lawyers of the province to be a Bencher of the Law Society of Alberta.
This esteemed group is chosen by practicing lawyers to govern as their board of directors, and to sit in judgement on disciplinary hearings against fellow lawyers.
With a history of winning, he doesn't like to lose trials. It can be seen as boasting to post a win/loss ratio, but feel free to ask him how long it has been since he has lost a trial.
Good lawyers don't come cheap, but neither do they have to gouge. Unlike many city lawyers, he won't charge a full trial fee if the case can be solved more quickly.
There is a free initial consultation, after which it is normal to quote a nominal fee to review the police reports and witness statements and give some solid advice. All options and fee quotes are set out firmly in writing before you have to decide how to proceed. Sometimes he even advises you not to hire him, if it will not be cost effective.
You are not a bad person just because the police charged you with something. Even if you have done something wrong, he understands that there is much more to any person than the worst thing that they have ever done. His job is to listen to your priorities, and try to calm down a bad situation. He works to minimize the damage caused to you by the charge, and help you get on with your best life possible as soon as possible.
